A benefit will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 19, at the TownHouse in downtown Grand Forks to help LeRoy Kurtyka of Grand Forks, 60, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in early June 2017.

Karen Schelinder followed a path of helping others, ever since she served as a Lutheran church parish worker in the 1960s.
