NDAD has awarded
$60,390 to 12 organizations statewide through its
Adaptive Recreation Grant, supporting programs that help North Dakotans with health challenges stay active, engaged, and connected.
This funding opportunity is designed to help organizations and community groups expand or enhance adaptive recreation opportunities, including adaptive sports, accessible equipment, inclusive program development, and recreational experiences that remove barriers to participation. These grants ensure more individuals can safely enjoy sports, outdoor activities, and community events—while building stronger, more inclusive communities across North Dakota.
“We believe recreation is about far more than physical activity—it’s about connection, confidence, and community,” said DeAnn Burckhard, Marketing Director for NDAD. “Everyone deserves the opportunity to feel welcomed, included, and valued in their community. Through the Adaptive Recreation Grant, we’re empowering organizations to build spaces and experiences where people of all abilities can come together, form meaningful relationships, and truly belong.”
