Making a World of Difference: How NDAD Helps Families Like the Shutts

NDAD’s financial assistance program helps cover the cost of prescriptions and essential medical supplies, making it easier for North Dakotans with health challenges to live comfortably and independently.
“I heard about NDAD through a group I belonged to in Minto,” shared Angela Shutt. A client services representative from NDAD’s
Grand Forks office had visited her local organization, Degree of Honor, to talk about the services NDAD offers.
“I was surprised at everything NDAD made available,” Angela said. “I thought it was such a great thing for our communities.”
That presentation turned out to be life changing. Not long after, Angela’s mother-in-law, Violet Shutt, was diagnosed with cancer. “She had a lot more expenses because of all the medications she was on,” Angela explained. “I was so glad I had heard about NDAD when I did.”
For the past few years, NDAD has been helping Violet through its
financial assistance program, which provides support for prescription medications and essential medical supplies. Angela says the renewal process couldn’t be easier. “The process is so simple. We get a form in the mail, fill out the paperwork, and Violet signs. It’s a breeze.”
With Violet and her husband relying on Social Security, the assistance has been a lifeline. “NDAD has such a great program,” Angela said. “Everyone who is on regular prescriptions or needs medical supplies regularly should check to see if they qualify. This has made a world of difference for our family.”
NDAD’s mission is to help North Dakotans with health challenges live more comfortably and independently. If you or someone you know could benefit from financial help for prescriptions or medical supplies, visit
