NDAD's mission-driven support eases medical costs for North Dakotans facing health challenges.
Managing serious health conditions can place a heavy financial burden on individuals whose incomes are already stretched thin. NDAD’s mission is centered on helping North Dakotans facing health challenges reduce those pressures—so they can maintain independence, redirect their limited funds toward other essential needs, and experience a better quality of life.
For Anthony Goethe of Watford City, that support has been essential.
Anthony has lived most of his life managing a seizure disorder, hypothyroidism, and chronic bronchitis—conditions that require multiple daily medications to keep under control. “The costs for my prescriptions are really expensive,” he shared. “I’m on about five different medications, and one alone is over $100 a month. It is hard to pay for.”
Throughout his life, Anthony worked in carpentry, roofing, and several restaurant jobs. But as his seizure disorder progressed, steady employment became unsafe and unsustainable. “I have to be cautious with working because of my health issues,” he said. “My seizures make it difficult.” Eventually, he transitioned to disability income, which left little room to cover rising medical expenses.
Fortunately, friends told him about NDAD. The organization focuses on easing financial strain, improving daily living, and empowering North Dakotans with disabilities or health concerns. NDAD’s direct financial assistance—never a duplication of services offered elsewhere—often serves as a crucial last resort for people who have nowhere else to turn.
Anthony reached out to NDAD’s Williston office for help. “They help me with costs related to my prescriptions,” he said. “The help has been great. The application process was pretty easy.”
By receiving financial assistance for his medications, Anthony is able to put his limited income toward rent, groceries, and other essentials—giving him more stability and breathing room in his life.
“NDAD is a lot of help,” he said. “I would tell anyone to call them. Everyone’s situation is so different.”
Anthony’s story reflects exactly why NDAD exists: to step in when financial barriers stand in the way of health, well-being, and independence for North Dakotans across the state.
