About Community Fundraisers

There are community fundraisers, and then there are NDAD-sponsored community fundraisers.

If you ever find yourself planning or participating in a benefit for a needy individual or family, or if you’re the one the benefit is being organized for, knowing the distinction could help you considerably.

NDAD, a charitable nonprofit organization, acts as custodian of any funds raised, which can be used to help the individual with urgent needs and expenses, including new and pre-existing doctor, clinic or hospital bills.
The service offers benefits in several ways. NDAD is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, meaning funds donated to NDAD may be deductible for donors who itemize on their taxes.

Donations directly to a needy individual also may cause that person to lose eligibility for various public assistance programs that are based on income. With NDAD as fund custodian, eligibility for public programs should be protected.

Bills must be submitted to NDAD and approved by the fundraiser chairperson for payment with donated funds — a service that can be of great relief to individuals or families dealing with overwhelming situations. If clients are at out-of-town medical facilities for long periods of time, it also can be a great convenience. NDAD tracks all funds raised and expenses paid.

NDAD’s long reputable service in North Dakota can be reassuring when potential donors consider a fundraiser sponsored by our organization.

NDAD also helps to provide marketing and consulting expertise for fundraisers, which may include creation and copying of posters and letters, and sharing information on social media.

The community fundraiser service is offered free of charge by NDAD. All funds raised are spent on the client’s needs. It’s a service NDAD has provided across North Dakota for the majority of its 45 years. References are available.
