NDAD’s 2020 Escape to the Lake adaptive water recreation event set for June 20 at Nelson Lake near Center, N.D., has been canceled because of public health uncertainties surrounding the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.

The annual event features adaptive water skiing for adults and children with physical disabilities, plus pontoon rides, a performance ski show by the Aberdeen (S.D.) Aqua Addicts and a lunch for participants, their families and volunteers. The event is free to participants, families and caregivers. It is made possible through grants from multiple North Dakota organizations and help from dozens of on-site volunteers led by NDAD and Sporting Chance North Dakota.

Escape to the Lake typically attracts 30 to 50 ski participants each year.

NDAD plans to continue the event in June of 2021.
