Tonya Peterson

NOTE: The benefit for Tonya has been held, but the fund for Tonya remains open for donations.

A benefit sponsored by NDAD will be held Sat., Nov. 23, at the Langdon Eagles Club for Tonya (Arens) Peterson of Langdon, a married mom of two children who has stage IV, non-curable lung cancer.

All proceeds will be used to help Tonya with medical and general expenses.

A non-smoker, Tonya was diagnosed in October 2016. The cancer has spread to several other areas throughout her body. In August of this year, she underwent full-brain radiation to treat numerous small tumors.

Tonya continues to embrace new treatment options available through trials and newly approved chemotherapy.

A 1998 graduate of Langdon High School who continued her education at UND, Tonya is a longtime employee of United Communications, though she's been unable to work since August. When she's able, Tonya enjoys playing bingo and pig wheel, camping, bike rides and spending time with friends and family.

She and her husband, Trent Peterson, were high school sweethearts who married in 2002 following her UND graduation. They have two children: Drew, 13, and Abby, 9.

Benefit details

The Nov. 23 benefit for Tonya will include a freewill-offering supper beef and pork supper, which starts serving at 5 p.m.  Beef and pork for the meal was donated by the Hickory Hut and will be smoked by Jesse Johnson of Sporty's. A variety of homemade salads and sweet treats will round out the menu.

A silent auction will begin at noon that day and conclude with the announcement of winners starting at 8 p.m.

If you would like to donate a salad and/or dessert bars or an item for the silent auction, please contact Mikan at (701) 370-6266.

Raffles and bingo will be held to raise money for Tonya; those games of chance will be conducted under City of Langdon Permit No. 502.
